Hilux LN110R with Vx ecotec using VP11 electrics
Hi brains trust,

i am getting high knock counts with the VP V6 ecu.

knock counts are a steady 195 - 200 across ALL RPM and Load ranges, including at idle and overrun?

This then causes the ECU to give a constant 12 deg advance reduction

any suggestions re what may be causing this greatly appreciated

Check the connection to the knock sensor.

It does sound like it is a sensor issue as it’s not really likely that it would knock constantly at all operating speeds and rpms.

You trying to tune it or fault finding? Modified?

Check or replace knock sensor & wiring if fault finding.

If modified or tuning probably mechanical noise...time to research & learn.Lots of good info plus memcal tunes already up on delcohacking forum.

trouble shooting, i also believe its an extraneous issue. a constant value makes me think its electrical? counts are good until above 75 deg coolant temp (which makes sense as input from sensors is disregarded until then) different sensors have been
tried same result. no error codes coming up

ecotec with vp style sensors with the vp ecu. all sensors and even the loom have been changed out, same result?

motor is stock except for extractors

Check the connection to the knock sensor.
connection is good, (new plug)
continuity from plug to ecu tests OK
New Knock sensor NO difference.
shows constant ~ 200 knock count and 12 deg retard (tunerpro 5)
disconnect sensor 6 deg retard AND constant 200 knock count!!

me thinks it is electrical interference!! but where??

have tried 2 ECU's
2 looms.
new CTS and O2 sensors as well??

any ideas?
