just a query, i've got pretty high oil pressure at idle lately, up to 90 psi and bouncy, less when driving (that figure hasn't raised from what it was) but is this anything to be concerned over?

yeah, could just be goin nuts, seems to do it more after startup, which i'd have thought would be the time for low oil pressure.
doesn't do it all the time though.

the pressure bypass spring in the pump should never let it get that high, hot or cold even when it's revving it's nuts off. maybe you got a bad earth somewhere forthe guage or the sender unit etc

is a dud pressure bypass spring a possible culprit?

when the pressure bypass spring weakens it normaly looses a little pressure. it would be impossible under normal circumstances for an oilpump to produce 90psi of presure at idle i'm pretty sure. the only we to be certain would be to fit a T piece and plumb in a mechanical pressure guage temporarily to check the actual pressures etc
