Just wondering if anyone knows ruffly what the highest static comp is that I can safely run using 98RON? I'm finalising the engine rebuild so I can workout how much it is all going to cost, but to choose pistons I need to know what CC they need to be which will reflect on the static comp. Cheers all!
the static compression should really be set to suit the cam your going to get for your setup. seeing as the V8 supercars run on 98 from memory, anything you throw at it should be fine with 98
The comp will be set to match the cam, but I need to know the max comp to know what the biggest cam is I can go. What comp do the V8's run tho?
the cam duration is really going to be limited by the amount of RPM the bottom end can handle. also with big cams your going need a highstall for it to be drivable. i wouldn't be surprised if the V8 supercars are running compression levels well over 12:1
I'm trying to decied between three cams atm. One needs between 10-10.5:1 static, another 10-11:1 static and the last between 11-12:1.
I'm looking to spin it to around 7500-7800rpm. I have already spoken to pavteck about machining it to suit 4 bolt mains:thumbsup:
your going to need a decent crank and good rods to handle those rpms. i'm intending to use the Scat 4340 H beam rods in my 308. they will handle that not a problem, just need to upgrade the standard rod bolts (they are supplied with APR 3840 bolts) to ARP 2000 rod bolts. what sort of duration cams are those. gonna be an intersting daily driver, that idle going to lope bigtime. that certainly explains the twin zorst you already have
Lope big time........major time! They are solid cams. Looking at a Crankshaft rebuilders crank, Eagle 5.7" H beams with L19 rod bolts and most likely either probe or arias forgies. Durations depending on cam range from 280-300 on the inlet and 284-304 on the exhaust with a 108 lobe seperation. Once I go to the new engine (which is going to be a fair while off due to the cost, but I would rather do it right, do it once) it will be far from a daily. I want to run a 10 N/A full street trim.
i've been considering going to a roller cam setup when i eventually do mine thats getting into some serious cam there, a nice high stall and diff gears are going to be needed for that combo. right now i'll be happy if i can get the exec into the 14 n/a
Going 3.9's in the ass and around a 4200rpm non lockup convertor. I thought of a solid roller, but they just don't have that rattle the fillings out of your teeth appeal
mechanical definitly has that going for it. as long as you don't mind adjusting your lash settings before every race meet
Already have adjustable billet roller rockers which helps, and a mechanic for an uncle so he can worry about that part of it
