hi.
does anyone know anything about hm headers/extractors?

is pacemaker the best brand?

would a set of hm headers be worth it?
they have a 10 year warranty

thanks

There is nothing wrong with HM, HSV used them on some of their cars. Pacemaker and Genie are made by the same company, pacemaker in SA, Genie in QLD i think. It comes down to personal preference, Pacemaker have built up a large client base, and do produce some very good products, as do HM though.

Didn't HM make the tube type headers for the VN S1 V8's? Anyway, haven't heard anything bad about their gear, if it's the right price I say go for it.

HM usually give more power across the whole rpm range, where as pacemakers are more for higher rpm and give nothing or less down low.

I dunno, pacemaker tri-Y's are supposed to give a pretty much across the board increase. The 4-1's are only top end though, just like any brand.

You might be suprised about that, 4-1 difilippos on the 304 give way more torque down low than the pacemakers, it makes total sense if you think about it, but we are talking about V6's here.

Yep HM made the tube headers on the VN and all the high end HSV stuff

yeah right V6, hmm, narrows down the options a bit, 3-1 or..... 3-1. :yeah: I still reckon HM would do fine as long as he isn't looking for maximum ponies and the price is right. Difilippo is all well and good if you've got the dosh to shell out, but lets face it, most of us don't. That said, it's what I'm saving towards, I'll probably end up with a set of second hand pacies though.

Ok HM is not cheap, they are expensive.

Pacemakers are a much better product. The actual finish and workmanship on Pacemakers are ALOT better than the HM gear, and HM gear is quite shabby.

Di Filippo are great, but their V6 headers are massive. 2.5" outlets, 1.75" primaries. These headers are far too big for anything but a very very heavily worked V6.

Pacemaker headers are the best option. The bandyness of Pacemakers is exaggerated and pacemakers will give more max power.

Keep saving for those flippos :) I know of a VR statesman with 3.9 gears that ran a 14.5 with only flippos and a front mount bumper style CAI, and a dual exhaust. Unsure if it's got a tune but it's a safe bet to say it at least has advanced timing. Still 14.5 in a tank like that, you can't complain
