hey all.... yesterdeay i cleaned out my throttle body on my vt v6. i also cleaned out the air box and pipe. took the air flow meter thing apart and cleaned it too as it was completely filthy.... just took it for a drive and now the engine light comes on and off, sometimes idles at what id say is 500rpm ( the first line above 0) and holds second longer than normal and slams into gear..... what did i do to stuff it up?? thanks in advance..
How did you clean the air flow meter? They a pretty sensitive. Best thing to do is check the error codes and that should point you in the right direction. Sounds like it could be the throttle position sensor.
Slamming into gears sounds like your TPS (Throttle position sensor). What was used to clean your throttle body? It has been said not to use Throttle body and carby cleaner on the senors as there is a high chance of stuffing them.
just cleamed it gently with a toothbrush... just got the gunk off the alloy things and put it back together... nothing broke of anything. made sure of that..
I still say, check the fault codes. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-tos/23665-checking-error-codes-vt-vx.html
Everything is fine now... The little wires went wrapped around the prongs properly in the air meter. Rhey are now and the car is running fine. cheers fellas
