I think you'll find that VF II will be aug build, they will build them for a month before release so they have stock for dealers. There would be pilot build going around now.
Vf were built from 5/13 05/13, Holden, Commodore, VF MY14 SS V Sportwagon, Wagon - Pickles Auctions Australia
VF wasn't a new model year, it was a new model altogether. Model year refers to MY14, MY15 etc. Holden, like most manufacturers, release the "next" model year sometime in the second half of the current year.
My16 starts October. There will be a factory shutdown soon, and only about 2 weeks of build in October. Dealers can't sell MY16 yet, because we have no details about MY16 and cars are not even in the system yet. It will be the same as MY15 in that the initial builds will be done by allocation, rather than orders, because Holden will have placed the initial MY16 internal orders already. There will be a price rise also.
Not necessarily! I recall in the VE series that the MY08 was released in May 07, MY09 in March 08 etc (all series 1). There is also a possibility that the MY16 is merely just that ie. not a series 2 (with upgrades of course). A series two may never happen (not saying it wont, but don't be surprised if the VF series just runs with MY models. They MY17 may be the Z series as the final VF. I was considering to wait, but I wanted to buy one now - hence have a Calais V V8 wagon on order (expect end July delivery - can't wait!). If you are not in a hurry to buy, just wait and see what happens by the end of the year.
I bought mine back in June because the Government's $20,000 "incentive" for small business, will probably replace it in late 2017 or early 2018 for the last ever Australian made ute.
they'll be 317kw or less in a de-tuned form not really its still an LS based motor not at all like the aussie 5L to LS1 switch in the VTs doubt it, they advertise the SV6 Storm in auto for $39,999 drive away here ATM. Could completely drop the SS and only sell SSV LS3s for 50k+ correct de-tuned 400kw LSAs in everything. Clubsport, Maloo, Senator, Grange etc 430kw are GTS only still
As 'ducker85" said, MY16 SSV will more likely be over 50k+ as Holden needs to "upgrade" the auto gear box to run the higher power engine. Currently auto box can only takes 260 kw, according to Holden, it is to "preserve" the longevity of it.. Does it mean those who currently have an auto gear box can't do anything to "maximise" their engine output?
I believe gearbox limits are expressed by a torque figure (Nm) not a Kw figure. I believed some years ago there was a transmission limit to 550nm and I believed that when HSV went from 6.0 to 6.2 in the E series that the 6.2 torque didn't increase from 550Nm, which I was surprised it would be exactly the same figure. I believed this was due to gearbox limit, but not sure if auto or manual. In saying this Holden is offering full factory warranty on the Walkinshaw 310's, so there must be scope for power up over standard that Holden is still prepared to back up with warranty. I doubt for Holden there is an issue with using the 6.2 engine, but that may be a different story for HSV using supercharged engine even if detuned from the 430Kw GTS. Edit, the W310 pack claims 580Nm of torque
I would assume they'd use the same gearboxes as HSV and the Corvettes/Camaro/G8 use currently with their LS3s
I went looking for some info on exactly which gearbag the Chevrolet SS uses, as it's pretty-much an SS-V Redline with an LS3 ... but I was using a somewhat elderly iPad, and half the sites I tried to open crashed the poor thing so I gave up ... However, you do have to wonder whether there are OTHER reasons the auto Commodore SS has 517Nm and the manual has 530Nm. On the VF2 topic ... I saw a new Cruze on the road just now, if they put the same nose treatment on the VFII ... well, I guess it would help maintain resale for VF I's.
Suspect with the photos around so far it will be a minor change to the front. Doesn't look like they're going to get rid of the "Malibu" rear.
i am quite disappointed i bought my ss brand new last year :-( its hardly worth the money upgrading though
You'd be upset if you bought a VEII SS a year or so before VF came out, that would be soul crushing. But this is only a small update to the existing series, if the new front bar really grabs you then just buy one from spare parts lol.
Not as soul crushing as a HSV GEN F owner (GTS excluded). Guess that's the price of buying into a 'new car' with an old engine.
Only way to never be disappointed that a better model has come out after you have purchased is to never buy in the first place. I am a bit different. I have always liked to buy the last of a breed rather than the "new" model. Result has always seemed to be a well sorted out car at an impressive discount. Thus I bought a late VL, and very late VS II, VY II and MY12.5 VE II. I was never concerned about not getting a VN, VT or VZ, though I did also buy a VF (actually two now) anyhow.
Just a good reason to upgrade :smoking: The LS3 is already a good engine which suits the Gen Fs well, if they do drop in a detuned LSA that's a big bonus although they'd have to throw all of the cooling at it too. Can't see it happening without a price rise, we'll see.
The HSV Maloo GTS ain't intercooled despite running the LSA. Neither are any of the Ford/FPV 5.0 Coyotes for that matter although it's a common first upgrade for the Blue Oval lot.
