Holden's biggest problem was, it wasn't selling enough vehicles...
spot on, the issue was the domestic market being way too small.

How many new Holden's have you bought since your VR?

GM's issue is they are a volume company, the Commodore needed to pivot away from this but they stubbornly kept going down the same track. They should have turned GM-H into a premium brand, they were on the right track in some respects by making the VF a premium vehicle but too little too late and the outcome they expected was volume which didn't happen.

then you have all the imported trash gumming up the works as well.

GM are in a death spiral of their own making and it all starts and ends in Detroit.

His departure may not be as sinister and predictable as first thought.

Yep. I think he has left because of genuine (non GM reasons) and it doesn't appear he was pushed.

The Caddies are built on the Alpha platform, same as the Camaro. HSV has shown us how much work is involved converting to RHD, which the platform was never designed for... GM has binned the Zeta platform...

GM are only interested in 3 markets, North America, South America and China. They couldn't give a toss about the rest of the world...

Alpha platform supposedly supports RHD but GM haven't executed it. Re-manufacturing a completed LHD car into RHD is not a reliable yardstick as to what is involved if it was manufactured RHD in the assy plant. It does seem you are correct though - unless you are a LHD market then GM doesn't seem to be capable of selling into it.

Focusing on the Americas and China but not Europe, Africa and Australia is stupid business move because you're throwing away money.
GM are going broke beacuse they don't care about all these other smaller markets where other companies are killing it.
