Whoever is last out the door please turn off the lights!

Holden boss Dave Buttner has stepped down as chairman and managing director after just 16 months in the job – one of the shortest tenures in the company’s 71-year history – following the lowest sales since the company was formed in 1948.

The former Toyota executive had come out of retirement to become only the second Australian boss to run Holden after it had been led for 25 years by foreign executives. Mr Buttner had vowed to turn Holden around after the shutdown of Australian car manufacturing in October 2017.

But Holden – which had 50 per cent of the entire car market in the 1950s, and was last Australia’s top-selling brand in 2002 – has struggled to stay inside the Top 10 sellers list over the past two years.

I read that article yesterday. Holden has had about a dozen directors since 1990, with a pronounced tendency to short terms in more recent years. It seems as though GM is either looking for a miracle worker to save the brand, or providing itself with an excuse to kill it off. No company struggling the way Holden is, can survive constant changes in the man at the top. Where's the consistency in direction and leadership? Titanic sank with the Captain at the helm. Holden can't even claim that.

It should have been the GM boss getting the boot. Holden is just being blamed for effects of GMs bad management

If the CEO had enough balls to demand GM let Australia have certain models of chev rebadged they would be in a better place. GM does care about Australia as a massive RnD section is based here.
GM think they can offload **** daewoo crap here and survive they're competely mad, ignorant and incompetent.

Your statement contradicts itself, they care but they don't because they dump crap models here?

How much of the R&D is government subsidised?

I don't know. But we don't manufacture here anymore but all the reasearch facilities are still here so our engineers are valued.

Here you go holden if you're listening. Make a ZL1 Colorado with the LT1 V8 make 1000 and they will sell guess what you'll sell 10,000 normal Colorados ontop of that market interest.

How much do you think toyota sold on the popularity of the 86??? I'm guessing it was good which is why they brought back the Supra to drive more sales. Even though you can't afford a Supra it can sway buyers into that brand as the Supra appeals to those buyers and they might buy a camry or 86 or upgrade that camry to the sportivo.

Holden lost this top tier selling the bottom tier idea and thought they could offload junk with nothing to head the brand and it's been a massive failure. I said 3 years ago they need the Camaro on sale floors by 2018 and it's not going to hit them untill 2021...... big fail GM.

Now GM is going to sell Cadillac here so what they offer a SVT? why didn't they just rebadge that as the new Commodore??? thats where it came from as it uses the VE chassis with some mods..... It's a branding shmozzel.
