Right off topic, the dealer tells me that Holden have allocated all the LEs regarding transmissions/colors/options; that is, if you have one on order and want to change trans or colour, the only way to do that is to swap your allocated car with another one (assuming which ever dealer who holds that other car agrees). Dealer-installed options are changeable, of course, but you cannot now have the factory change the colour of your car even if the build date is months away. Apparently, ever last drop of paint is accounted for.

Yeah hey. Too many variables for those rwkw numbers to be meaningful or reliable Martin. They can be a good estimate but. As has been said here a billionty times (Forg, JC 2017), the dyno is a tuning device. The output figures are good for comparing relative gains, same car, same day, same dyno settings, tweak car, run again. That's meaniful. But, then we use them to compare tuners, mines bigger than yours stuff. The manufacturers know this. Some tuners exploit it. We all know that hey. But, there are some serious easy power gains to be had Martin. Many untapped torqueballs are there for the taking. Same heads, same CR same cam. Just FBO (Monstar etal (sic), JC 2011-2017) and tune. Boom, off she goes with her new found big balls. Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
The proof of the extra balls is in the driving. After you drive your standard one. See if you can get a drive of, or, in a tuned one. Bigger balls to make you smile. You'll feel them. Lots more balls. Well worth the money.
Remember when doing stuff in the backyard, like adding exractors and a free flowing exhaust, whacking on a squarebore or cam and double pumper, rotating the dizzy, setting the advance bob weights, springs and stoppers to come on early but not too much, would really bring a stock V8 to life. All the other main lappers would say that 360, 351, 350 or 308 has balls! They did too. Big balls, compared to a stocker. That's exactly what the tuners are doing today. Removing the latency, unlocking the potential for that big lump of metal to pump more air. Breath more in, bigger bang, blow it out faster. All without increasing the internal volumetric Cc capacity.

I think you just described a fair few of us. I don't know much either really. I learn a lot on here though. It's interesting. With a bit of fun banter thrown in.

Ahh the Max Wedge. Love it! Believe it or not, that's not even one of Mother Mopars weirder induction setups!

Mate it reads like a university assignment with all those facts and reference/acknowledgements. Obviously the mind is more focussed during the day

Hey Cuda, yes its all about the bang, I'll call it, dare I say, my big bang theory, and there are a number of assumptions here. Internal combustion engines are very efficient at pumping out exhaust so bolting on a pair of extractors will have a marginal impact on improving cylinder filling (VE), maybe of more significance is how restrictive the standard Cat Converters are. Performance increase is 9/10ths getting more air/fuel into the cylinders and 1/10th (or less) getting exhaust out. One advantage of extractors is improved sound, downside is big increase in under hood temps and longer term implications with deterioration. Anyway, so we have the OTR CAI vs the standard CAI, love to see flow performance of both as comparison but never will. Has Holden built a highly restrictive air filter box/inlet tract, don't know, but don't know why they would fit a larger engine to improve output and then de-tune it. Due to its reduced length I think it would be safe to assume the OTR CAI would be more efficient at higher RPM. Leaves the tune, how do you get a bigger bang/more HP, increase the injector duration. This really only would work if the engine is running at the lean end of the scale, for example to meet emission regs/improve economy. Just like running and engine too lean causes over heating and knocking/pinging, running it too rich causes plug fouling and carbon build up (good for acceleration though). This is where I believe the biggest impact is made, simply by making a bigger bang through more fuel and optimizing the air/fuel ratio. Love to see some honest dyno figures with tune compared to tune and OTR CAI compared to tune, OTR and high flow cats and then with extractors. Just my opinion. Now, off to collect my Motorsport:)

Honestly Mate, I don't really care much what the dyno figures say. I just enjoy the extra torque. But fwiw: my sheets showed ~206 standard, 229 with otrcai, HSV 2.5" mid section headers and cats and conservative tune, 253 with hiflow cats and more aggressive tune, same dyno. Final tune on E85, different dyno, was a touch over 260 ($100). Each change achieved a noticeable increase in seat of the pants torque.
Looking fwd to Nitrate MSE some pics. Enjoy!

So I promised a video and thanks to GLA and his beautiful Nitrate MSE I can now show you the difference between stock and my 385kw upgrade.

Believe me. The video doesn't do the difference justice.
The exhaust note of EternityDre's MSE is sensational.
It may be an after market installation but it is very professional and looks like it could have come out of the factory that way.

    Hi Pisisle,
As much as I loved the sound and the thought of the additional kW, I'm a stock kind of guy. No disrespect intended, we are all different which makes it interesting. It is a very professional mod though??
I've been busy and it's been a while, how long do you have to wait for the director?

I think that the anticipation of the delivery drove me to keep up to date with the forum. I've let it drop of in the last month since I've had an MSE to drive.
    Time to stay tuned in!

So picked up the Motorsport and managed somehow to avoid the rain. Love it but will take a couple of drives to become acquainted with clutch pick up, throttle etc. Am up at Healesville tomorrow maintaining the mother-in-laws property :( so will be Monday for pics. Dealer has a director in soag for 82K DA and two auto motorsports, one Heron and one Phantom for $75.4K DA. PM me if interested, dealer will take enquiries tomorrow if keen. The motorsports are fantastic, loving it so just going out to garage for another look (and drink:p)
