Thanks for that - much appreciated and very informative
I think I might owe you a beer or two for all the good gen!
You have also dispelled a few myths about running in a car. Always thought related to oil consumption and wear. Will be following your guidelines for the next 1500ks or so and yes it will be fun.
Can't help feeling a bit empty about the end of the line with these V8 cars. Reality setting in....
Hey Dr MOPAR,
Good advice. That's pretty much the run in approach I took on route to Bathurst and the Holden Dream Cruise.
What are your thoughts on poor run in procedures causing bore glazing and or poorly bedded rings?
I will keep my L77 Redline thanks.
Hi zappaboy, you could be onto something there. The time my error message appeared was midday on a hot day after coming down a bumpy moutain pass. Would be great if you could keep us all updated on what your dealer says.
Hi RedMSE. I will keep you posted on any developments. I have spoken to the dealer over the phone to the service technician I deal with and trust and have good relationship with but he says he has spoken to the floor technicians and they have not seen this message on LE models or HSV which they were a dealer. I have not taken the MSE in for a checkup though. I posted this matter on other forums where other people have experienced this message and it has gone away and they have taken it to the dealer who did not find any error codes in the system. Also my research using Dr Google with posts from the US with other GM products that use MRC mostly Cadillacs and I think large SUV would suggest a bad connection that gets wet and brings up the message. My scenario would equate to this in regard that both times the MSE was being driven in very wet conditions when the message appeared and the vehicle had time to "dry" out when it was restarted and the message went away. All of this may be just coincidence. Note the MSE operated normally during the message period and it has not appeared since but also the car has not been driven and it is locked away from me so I do not drive it as it is very addictive. The MSE is two months and has already done 3800kms and I hoping to just do 5000kms a year in it. The dilemma between low kms or more enjoyment.
A good read:
Enjoyment > low kms.
First ute I have seen in the wild
Anyone know how many limited editions are in sold? Heaps of me around but surprised I've seen 5 directors and 1 Magnum still advertised
i found a white, silver and black directors in perth a few weeks back, took home the black, they had motorsports lined up for sale too, thought they would be well and truely gone, or the rumours of being all sold may have rushed potential buyers into redlines in fear of missing out all together
anyone know of any Red Hot Motorsports still for sale at dealers? I know Newcastle City and City Holden Adelaide do, but looking for a better price, rather than getting ripped off.
Port august holden
Red manual melb 78k driveaway
even got a magnum
bet there prices are up there
Red auto in melb 77K drive away
Seems odd but Glen Waverley Holden has an auto for $67,990?? It says drive away.
They also have a manual for $78,990 which seems more like the price.
I have a Silver Director, picked up mid October. Now has just over 2000 Km. Does anyone have trouble with creaks/squeaks in the dash. This has come in in the last approx. 800 Km and makes it sound like an old car. Any slight body movement brings it on and it appears to come from multiple sources and is very annoying. My previous VF Calais V did have same effect, but nowhere near as bad as the Director. Does anyone else have this trouble and are there cures/fixes?
Have a read of the windscreen rattle/squeak forum.
