@426Cuda have you tried any different mufflers with this setup? Got my HSV headers, 100 cell hi-flow cats and hsv mid section fitted up yesterday. Sounds pretty good with the bi-modal mufflers was just wondering what else people have tried and how it sounds.
I'm glad you like it. I've been advocating this as a cheap upgrade for years. Mainky because it's cheap, I'm a tight arse and it works. Coupled with a tune it makes great torque. and sounds good. Even on AFM cars IMO.
Re you Q: I've had the following fitted to same as your setup, only 200cpi cats:
1. J pipes - far too loud and a bit of a flame thrower;
2. Marriage savers ( had supplier modify the J pipes). Still too loud and a bit raspy. I must be getting old;
3. VE GTS bi-modal mufflers. Nice sound, but ill fitting; and
4. AFM mufflers. Quieter than HSV & Holden bi-modals.
I've been running the Holden bi-modals for about 18 months now. But I'm thinking of swapping back to the AFM's, only because the bi-modal electrics are not connected and I want a quieter note at times. Particularly morning start ups and spirited driving. The current set up turns heads on cue with my right foot. Not ideal and I'm not a narcissist.
Hey @426Cuda can you post up a video/ sound clip for your set up?
I have the same set up on the mistress but have standard cats at the moment and want get a cam, OTR, 200cell high flows cats and a tune.
I like the sound a lot at the moment just what a little bit louder.
Thanks for that Cuda. I might try the bi-modal relay back in and see how it goes. It may just be the fact I'm looking for a different note that i won't get with this setup. Or i wonder how walkinshaw mufflers would sound bolted on?....

Here you go. Both cars have the same system, but for the cats. HSV 340 cats on the Motorpsort, magnaflow 200cpi cats on the redline. Quite different notes. Their both cold starts so didn't want to rev them up. But as you can hear, the Redline is far louder.
what size pipes are you matching this all up to? and what catback that makes j-pipes "too loud"??
Mine always sounds a lot more cammy on cold start. I dont know how to word it but almost a splutter.
