1999 Holden Commodore VT II Executive
I bought a Holden Commodore 1999 VT Executive Series 2, few months back.
The Car was running well until some times, it showed this issue couple to times.

I was driving to office then suddenly two the dashboard lights started glowing.
One is the battery and other was like a Aladin lamp with a drop of oil on the nozzle (not sure what this light for :)).
The Engine stopped but the car was still in motion. I pulled over the car in side road. The gas pedal and steering became stuck.
Then I changed to neutral and re-started the car and drove back home.

Not sure what was the problem. Can anyone please give me some idea about the issue. if it was a common problem in Holden?

Thanks.

Crank angle sensor problem comes to mind, but a dodgy/dirty electrical wiring connection could also be the culprit.

Get new plugs and leads, and check for vacuum leaks. It's most likely a backfiring problem. Otherwise try cleaning the iac, and since Lpg tends to coat the intake with greasy residue, it could be part of your problem.

Ouch! Do you get your car checked regularly? It sounds bad but I'm sure it's only a minor problem, something is probably damaged or loose.

That's the oil light.
Any time that light comes on......Take it seriously.
Have you checked the oil lately?
Could also be a matter of low oil pressure......Pump failure/blockage, or a clogged oil filter.

The battery light will come on if the engine stops with the ignition on.
The steering will become heavy if the engine is off, due to no power steering.
Don't know why the gas petal would become stuck though.

Both lights have come on cause the engine has stalled with ignition still on. Not the cause.
Sounds like it would be a gas issue. Can you run it on petrol for a while to see if the problem re occurs or not??

On my old vx v6, when the oil was getting down, under hard braking the oil light would come on. Never made the car stall, but would let me know it was time to top up the oil level.
