Holden is now exporting a sports version of the Pontiac G8 called the GXP, powered by a 6.2L LS3 V8, though it is detuned to 300kw but Pontiac still says 0-60mph in just 4.7 seconds.

Soooo...When do we get the LS3? Personally I thought we would have got it for the release of the FG Falcon instead of this 6 airbags and alloys as standard crap :p (who needs airbags anyway).

Pontiac is also selling the Holden ute as of 2009. GXP goes on sale late this year (around $38,000 USD).

The Ls3 is not far off at all.
There are rumors that we will have them by middle of this year.
I think they are waiting on ford to make the first move and announce the power of the FPV's and the pricing before they tell everyone that its coming.
This is probably so they can keep a power advantage, as I'm guessing they would have several states of tune and when the Fg power is announced they will lock in there most appropriate tune (325KW has been thrown around alot).
I think it will be he mid year at the latest.

I heard that there is a waiting list on LS2 engines (at HSV anyway) and customers are being advised to wait a few extra months and they will get the engine upgrade.

Dont know how much credit there is to that, but is just what i've heard

LS2's havent been made since mid last year... HSV bought a heap at the end of the run to stockpile for E series but with record sales they'd be running low and they can't get anymore.

If holden are using a 300kw tuned version for export purposes does that mean we may see the LS3 in Holdens range though? Not just HSV?

Ford XR8's are now at 290kw, so a 300kw LS3 SS sounds good to me!

As far as HSV, I've heard 327kw but that the GTS would have a higher power output to Clubsport R8, Maloo and Senator this time.

    I'll second that !!!

But I don't think it will help how good looking the car is as I don't think it will be such a great year for exports the way the Aussie dollar is climbing. Listening to financial business reports the Aussie buck could hit $1.10 US by the end of this year. So the Yanks will soon be on the other end of the buck exchange, and with their struggling economy, not many Yanks are going to be buying new cars let alone foreign imports... Good news for us though if you want a classic Yank muscle car... there should be some great deals to be had soon.

That would be fine except that there is no series 2 VE?

VF presumably. In the VE they are making running changes rather than doing a series update, much as they did back with the VN's etc.

Probably not clear at this point but when the car colours change - that will mark the change over to the "non Series 2 VE". There is no SII VE but the car is now very different from what was first released.
