just bought a vy with just over 300thousand kms 1 owner serviced every 8thousand kms how many more kms should i get out of it??
no thrashing

I agree with SavYVute. Mate of mines a mechanic, he reckons a well maintained modern engine should give you 500,000 to 600,000 before anything major lets go as long as it is looked after and with more regular services as it gets higher in the km's.

Today we bought a VY engine and transmission with 130,000 ks from an elderly genty who drove the mint wagon through a metal fence.
The engine will replace our 252,000 klm VX engine that's in very good condition but with ticky heads and we do a lot of towing a camper so now
the VX should be good for another 10 years.

As the engine is already extremely high mileage, my advice would be to reduce oil and filter change intervals from 15k to no more than 10k, and perhaps even more frequently. My VR V6 had 335k on it when I sold it and it ran smoothly and evenly at that distance, partly because I reduced the servicing intervals to 5k. It was cheap insurance and the car never let me down.
