VY Acclaim Station Wagon
Hi everyone,

I am still driving my Holden VY Acclaim Station Wagon from 2003 and it has done me very well. But recently in the last 6-8 months I think, it has started to make this noise while the engine is warm.

It is much louder when it is in Drive or Reverse.

Should I be concerned about it? My mechanic told me to not worry about it as he checked everything and can't find the reason why it would be doing it.

Thanks heaps

Could you make it into a YouTube video so we don't have to download anything?

If it’s 8 months since it started, does it really matter or do you care?

What was wrong with attacking the problem 8 months ago may I ask?

All I hear is what I would expect from a VY engine.
Use a can of WD 40/silicone spray and do a QUICK spray on the belt inner where it runs on the pullys
If the noise doesn't change move to another area eg pully.
Don't get your hand/fingers caught.
DON'T saturate it just a QUICK spray.
If nothing changes then maybe use some hearing device to listen to each individual moving part
but be careful of spinning parts, they hurt.

Thanks guys, This might of been happening for a much longer time period but I only recently noticed it.

I just have trust issues with the car now so any extra noise i hear, i start worrying about it that it might be on its last legs. Its been a fantastic car since i got it in 2011.

Will be using these forums more now as I want to keep this car going as long as possible and its good to have other peoples opnions on what could an issue be

Won't play for me. Needs to be a YouTube vid. I have some experience with V6 engine noises but without a vid or hearing it in person it could be six different things.

Hearing Device as being a pair Mechanics Stethoscope,
So you can listen to the Bearings screaming.

They are a must have tool for a L67,
2 x Belts & 6 x Pulleys + Supercharger Snout with 2 x Bearings.

Pull the belt off and run it without the belt and post the vid. While the belt is off spin the AC pulley to see if it feels rough.

Definitely sounds like a pulley noise to me whether its one of the idler pulleys or something like the a/c compressor is hard to say, you’ll need to remove the belt and check them all
