Hi there everyone, i really need help. at the moment i just have a pod filter jus sitting on the end of the air intake pipe which is just sucking in hot air from the engine bay. i had a look at mortons setup and i wanted to do that (run a pipe down to the front bar) but when i looked where his pipe is, it isnt possible for me to get a pipe down there, there is stuff in the way. i have a vn 1990 (no sure if s1 or s2) but i dont have a radiator cap, that may help someone identify my car. morton has a vp, maybe that is why it wont work. can someone please help me with a way of making a cai for my car? i dont really want to be cutting into metal either. any suggestions?
    cheers, eddy

its not hard to fit it down, like on your setup, its just that i cant get it to the front from there, would you be picking up cold air by just having it pointed down like that?

Thats not actually my setup, when I do mine its going to be similar but will be running to my front bar. But I would say it would be picking up colder air from down there. It would be better if you got some flexy pipe and ran it to the front bar, that way u would be sucking dirt from the road and water, if you have to go though any puddles.

this is what I have atm, but im planning on having a single 100mm pipe in the future. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/687541-post146.html

Eddy I'm sure there's room on the V6 somewhere, there's no room on the V8 for a big pipe unless you go through the bottom of the airbox like mine

Makes it a little difficult if you want a front bar set up, but don't want to cut through steel. I have a K&N pod filter on a steel pipe in my front bar, i left the factory air box on there, took the air filter out of it, drilled a 90mm hole in the bottom of the box, through the steel, sealed it all up with silicon, rigged up a pipe so it was very sturdy, and attached a pod filter to it, replaced the air box lid and vualla.

As i have a VP senator front bar, there are moulded holes in each side on the front of the bar, so when i am driving, the air directly hits the pod filter. Works a treat.

I just ordered a bored out throttle body, and when it arrives, i'm going to tear the air restrictor out. I still can't believe i haven't done that yet.

For my S1 I had to cut a small piece off a guard undernearth the car (looks like ****) so the pipe could go through it. its not part of the car technically because it can be taken off but I wouldnt do that because it acts a cover/guard. Theres should be quite alot of room but my pipe is smaller than Mortons, its a tad wider than a creepy crawly pipe (for pools)
