How do i install a monster tacho

Hi I have a 5 inch Auto Meter tacho with a shift light. I was just looking for help on how to install the tacho. I would also like to be able to remove the tacho at night to prevent people steeling it. i no how to make the wires removable but i have no idea how to make the accual tacho removable. Can anyone help me?

thats seems to much of a pain in the butt....

the only way I can see you doing it is by screwing it in and out everytime you park it up at night...

Best off getting yourself a good alarm system to protect your whole car..

Does anyone know how to wire one of these tacho's up on a VT??
I have to do one on my friends VT and any help would be appreciated!

i have a cheap $100 5" tacho with shiftlight in my VH, currently most of its hooked up into my fuse box

Heres the colour codes i got given ( They work for my tacho)

Red/12v
- Attach this wire to a power source ( maybe run through to battery )

Black/Ground
- Just attach this to the body or ur car, make sure it has clean contact with the metal

White
- This wire is attached to ur lights, so when ur lights come on, so does the backlight on ur tacho. ( Somewhere in ur fusebox )

Green/Signal
- This wire should get connected to the NEGATIVE side of ur coil

You have a SS Baldric of course you have a tacho so why would you use speed, lol.
How bout some one doing a 'how-to' write up on how to install an aftermarket tacho??

Whats wrong with your standard tacho? Not like a Commodore rev's out to 10 grand anyway. Monster tach's are a waste of money, anyone who's thinking about getting one I'd advise you just get a shift light made up. The bloody things are a target for thives also.

EDIT: Unless of course its a totally aftermarket dash, then I can understand :drink:

monster tacho

iv got a 5 inch monster tacho in my VS that i can remove at night to keep theives away. My friend installed it for me and it basically has a clip where i can plug it in and out when eva i want. The tacho basically just slides out of the round holder thing and i unplug the wires from the clip and take it out. Id post pics but i dont know how to upload them so if you want to see some pic, let me know how to upload them or give me your email address and ill send them. Its a great way of stopping theives from stealing it.
