On my ford you took the wheel off then pryed off a center cap and there was a big nut holding in the bearings and then the disc slid off. I had a quick look at the VR, but wasnt sure how to get the discs off, any help?
In the how-to section someone has written one up for changing the rotors on a VY or something. It was exactly the same on my VS. When you have removed the calipers the disc will theoratically just slide off but mine took quite a bit of 'encouragement' Its not that hard at all really
iv just finnished doin this on my VR SS, once the calipers r off spray the whole lot with WD40/RP7 or sumthin similar, get a rubber mallet and hit the rotor from the back and it should just slde str8 off
It is easier, and just as effective, to hit the disc from the side facing you (outside) with the rubber mallet. A steel hammer and block of wood can be substituted, and neither should hit the disc very hard; a series of lighter taps is better than a few big hits. Some anti-sieze compound applied between the disc and hub will make it easier next time.
Ixnay on the anti sieze. It has a habit of flaming during hard braking. The heat generated will burn it. Just use WD40 or the like when removing, they never really rust on that tight anyway.
lol i thought it would have been harder then that. just sum WD40 and a rubbermallet and its as simple as whacking it loose. sweet i'll do my own now
I've always used it, since that is what GMH recommend, without any problems. Perhaps there are anti-siezes and anti-seizes. I use NeverSieze.
If you want a write-up I have done one for another site with pictures - step-by-step on the rear of a VS Stato (some would say too many pictures ) Let me know if you want it and I'll dig it up
