Hey guys, pretty useless thread here but I am having an argument with a mate of mine about making a VS statesmen really fast. Question is : can you make a VS statesmen a 11second quater mile car in 7Grand or under? This includes anything you need to do with suspension, driveline, gearbox aswell as engine. It's a v6 ecotec aswell. which is currently stock as they come. What would be the price with labour and pricey parts, and then without any labour and cheaper parts? stupid I know but you know how and argument can get, I don't think it's possible but I'm happy to admit I'm wrong if you can do it for that price. CHEERS
That really depends on alot of things mate! like how long do you want the motor to last Personally i would use the 7K to get an LS1 conversion! With 7K you could get a raptor charger fitted or capa vortec wich should see you getting into the 13 sec bracket but i doubt she would see 11s! but the other thing to factor would be the longevity of your engine/box/diff/suspension ect There is a bloke on here with a 12 sec calais (He has the L67 motor though) heres a link to his setup to give ya an idea of what was needed to acheive those times! http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vr-vs/81601-supercharged-v6-calais-12-2-111mph.html
You can run an 11 second 1/4 in a stato for 1 grand if you use NOS but you will probably break something in the driveline in such a tank with that much power. Oh sorry I just read it's a V6, well then add 2 grand for the 5 litre first , so 3 grand. I talked to a guy once that had run a 10 in a VN SS with a 300? shot, the motor made a few passes before it fell apart too http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=MX65pNn6gXs 300 shot ^
meh, jsut buy an 8, and save money for something better. Barges are luxury, not meant for 1/4 miles. Or you could put 7k on 8 black at crown
On another note, if you were to find a strong cheap secondhand T400 gearbox and a good 250+ rwkw stroker second hand for say, 5 grand and pull all the useless weight out of the car then you would be ready to go 11's but the IRS would likely break after a few passes. Be alot easier if you sold the tank and bought a more suitable drag car in the first place like a Torana, Capri, Cortina, Escort etc
your best bet would be running alot of boost and hoping things run smoothly lol and they probably wont
Haha thanks guys, nos isn't an option though. I tried to tell my mate stato's arnt the way to goo especially the ecotec (my opinion) i suppose if you had a rolling start of say 250khph you could do 11sec in a stato haha! thanks for the comments much appriciated.
hahaha, yeah... it's possible with a 304 as a starting point, and a bit of weight reduction - but your mate's dreaming with an ecotec in a barge like that ^_^
a mates v6 statesman does a best of 12.3. the driveline cost 20k plus. its twin turbo and has nos plus fully manualised box in it. averages 12.9. for 7k tell him hes dreamin. buy a torry and just flog it not the statesman
he also tried to tell me a vs stato is more luxurious then a soarer gt limited haha ^^ thanks for the comments, i'll let him know he should put his 7grand into some hemi and just have fun in that ;p
