Its a lot easier when you haven't shoe horned it into a L300 van.
Make sure that the splines are lines up properly when you put the gearbox back in and don't pull it in with the bolts, it has a tendancy to crack the bellhousing.
Just a little side note, You have checked that its got enough oil in it.....

Yeah sorry I didn't describe it perfectly but you got the idea, I also made the mistake of rounding the nuts once and as a result didn't do the tailshaft up properly either, It looked and felt ok, but just wasn't.

It then rattled loose and started clunking every time I took off and thats why I STILL need a new pinion seal.

Just waiting on my mate to let me use the hoist.

Can i assume this is the same on a VR? I'm thinking of dropping the box to kill 3 birds with one stone. I have a rear main weep and probably a front seal leak on the trans, plus i want to fit a Vette servo. I have removed 4WD transmissions before and they have transfer cases to come off at the same time. Starting to build my enthusiasm about doing it myself rather than paying the mech. A few years ago i wouldn't have thought about it too much and would have dropped it out and back in on the same weekend.

It's got to be 95% the same on a VR surely.

Does anyone know what the tool is called you use to set the rear main seal and where to buy one?
