    Hi All,

This is probably a dumb question to most of you.
But could someone please explain what is involved with replacing the big end in a VS V6 and what the hell is it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nay

    Big End!

The big end is the bearing on the crankshaft end of the conrod (connecting rod). The conrod connects the piston to the crakshaft.

I know brave people in the past who have changed big end bearings without removing the engine. They have done this by removing the sump so that they can get to the crankshaft.

I'm not sure how successful that would be with a Commodore V6.

Logic says that a big end problem would be a good time to do major repairs to the engine, as other issues may not be far away.

Thus a big ned failure would point to an engine overhaul to me, or a replacement engine. Not cheap, might be ungrade time?
