unless you get to spencer st station and catch the airport bus. that would be the only real "train link" other then somewhere close with a bus route that goes by the airport.

so what would be the difference between leaving it at home and starting it upon coming back
and leaving it at a parking place and starting it upon coming back?

if your really desperate. a solar powered trickle charger. or use solar power to keep one of those jump starters topped up.
just try to have a north facing carpark or one with minimal shade and you are all set. (that's if it sit above dashboard)
would be awesome if there was a sunshade solar panel for this instance... *hmm*

The cost of the taxi ride would be a lot cheaper than coming home to no car because it's been pinched or damaged.

Only a fool would want to leave their car at the airport for any period of time.

are you parking it at Tulla airport or one of those long term parking places?

as I think your car gets shuffled around and washed for you if ya want at those places.

My mates a fifo, same 28/7 and he's had no probs with his 6L VZ SS Crewie starting at long term parking.

But what he does now, is he hires a car for his week back , drives it around all week, then drops it off at tulla.

Anybody ever seen how much it costs to park at Tulla??? Your monthly bill could easily cost more than your car :s.

that's only if you park at the airport.
apparently the local carparks in Tulla and Gladstone park etc are not quite as bad.
still a bit to park a car but not as bad.

Do that, that is a ripping idea! I dare say that would be the cheapest option of all and the least stressful.

Yeah I've used a few of them. It's all hideously expensive for what they offer though.

and just some other advice (which i gave my mate) is go to Post office and get this Domestic Travel Insurance - Australia Post

For less then $100, it'll cover your hire car excess, if you have a bingle, as they can be a couple of grand,
plus coverage for loss of luggage and other stuff.

Check your CC. A lot of the "premium" credit cards provide various forms of travel and other insurances (eg extended warranties) as part of the service. As always read the fine print though!

You could fit one of those battery charger/maintenance units that have a solar panel. There not cheap but ensure a fully charged battery every time you turn the key.

The other big question is does it have an after market alarm fitted? I find batteries don't last as long once you fit an alarm system. Stock standard cars with factory security systems don't seem to drain batteries as quick.

I wouldn't stress about trickle charges. My sca Jumpstarter lives in my car and only gets charge 3-4 times a year. I was able to jump a car when it hadn't been charged in 2 months.

My VR4 lived in a garage and was only started every 2-3 months before I sold it. optima Redtop never had an issue starting it.
