VF SV6
Hi everyone,

i recently bought an sv6 VF commodore sedan not too long ago, and it has the stock exhausts on it, i want my car to be louder but not too loud to where i will gain attention from cops.. I wanted a noise like the straight pipes with hot dogs but didnt want it that loud, and was hoping j-pipes with hotdogs might reduce it just slightly.
these were the ones i was checking out: https://www.veonline.com.au/holden-commodore-ve-sedan-wagon-ss-sv6-3-tailpipes

of course as a P plater and with exhaust noise having to be under 90db, im curious to how loud this will get, and or if theres any other exhausts that i can get to maintain a loud but not overly loud noise, would love a response to which ones are good.
id also prefer just the muffler section of the car to change as im not too interested at this point of time in having to go to a workshop to get an entire exhaust system done, especially working all the time, id rather do that at a later date hopefully, so thats why im only after a muffler at this time. Thanks guys

P plater, with a V6, in Melbourne, and wants a louder exhaust?
Keep the exhaust standard, you might be able to keep your license till you're off P's.

the v6 with straight through pipes sound like ass but if you really want to increase the sound maybe try a set of bimodals so you can switch it off when needed.

P Plater in Melbourne,
Hmm, loud exhaust,
If you don’t want to be hassled by the VicPol, leave it stock, it’s like waving a red flag at a bull,
I have heard of vehicles with loud exhausts have been reported to EPA,
Then you have to produce your vehicle to be tested at a VicRoads station,
and the vehicle owner is required to pay for the test, ($120 or there abouts)
They figure, if you can afford a loud exhaust, you can pay to have it tested, and a roadworthy if it's defected
If they consider it’s to loud, they will slap a canary on it, then it’s a FULL Roadworthy Required.
In a nut shell, don’t fix what isn’t broken.
Don’t try and be like all the other V6’s fart box’s, that sound like broken farts when they flatten it when they take off, because it will definitely draw attention to yourself, not the attention you need.
The money could be better spent else were.

Leave the mid pipe stock and put a couple of Lukey's on the rear like these 10 X 4 1/2 OVAL - 14" LONG O/C 2 1/4 409 POLISHED STAINLESS ULTRAFLOW – Lukey Performance Products

V6's are pretty loud with an awful note without rear mufflers. Ideally, you need the biggest straight through mufflers you can fit on the rear in 2 1/4", not 2 1/2" V8 mufflers when the mid pipe's only 2 1/4". The VF SV6 stock system's good flow wise except for the rear mufflers are reduced internally to 1 7/8". If you get into the habit of modifying exhausts to optimise flow using the biggest straight through mufflers (perforated tube fibreglass packed) that'll fit under the car, it'll sound great but never "cop bait" loud and raspy!

Find yourself a set of V8 rear mufflers with the proper twin outlets, not the single with twin tips. Will be a bit louder and deeper but not too loud. Will look better as well.

all of this X 1000,000 , don't make yourself into cop bait with overly loud fart box , I was following a VF with this set up the other day , and sounded OK .

Another vote for SS mufflers, will be a subtle volume increase and won't drone like a typical P Platermobile
