Just wondering how many kilometers would one expect from there VX V6 that hasn't been mistreated.
Ours has done 240,000 and still going strong but we have purchased a low kilometer engine for when
the engine is tied.

They were what powered the yellow taxis (Buicks) in New York weren't they?

Depends on when it starts costing you to much in small repairs

Keep it maintained, it will go for a long time yet. My ute has more in it than that, wasn't looked after brilliantly before I had it, but I have no problems. Just change the oil regularly and it will be good for at least another hundred thousand.

Update:12/05/13, 6.30pm Sunday evening while travelling back from Bundy I hit a kangaroo and the Commodore isn't very happy. It's still drivable with some panel damage to the bonnet, left front guard, side mirror snapped off and a few scratches down the left side, also the setbelt/air bag light has come on. We went back looking to see if the Roo wasn't suffering and it just looked stunned and finally hopped off. The good new is were both safe and we have great insurance.

My last 2 V6's were around the 450-500,000 mark when I retired them.

Never had any engine failures, the engines tend to rattle a little from the top end/timing chain etc as they get old but this doesn't affect the function of the engine.

Service them every 5000km or so when they get old and they will see you out for a long time.

Have seen a few do full rotations of the odometers (country cars)

Sorry to hear about your roo incident, happened to me last year too.....the night before I had to drive halfway across the country....that was a long nights panel beating
