Hi there, I'm looking at selling my 96 VS Commodore 'S' 4.2 litre stroker....At the moment I'm not sure what money i should be chasing for it thou. Its been stroked to a 4.2 litre with a stage 3 cam and chip package, port and polished heads and a 5 speed gearbox. the motor has done 250,000Kms and the stroker kit was installed at 150,000kms.... Any suggestions???
Pretty much what seq said. At the end of the day its still just a VS S thats been modified with quite a few kms imo. Personally I would say 5k max and even then you'd be lucky to get that.
Yeah no worries, just thought it would be a bit of a rarity being a manual and a N/A Stroker....The kits are worth $2500 let alone labour. 5K would still me good
To the right buyer it might be worth $4000 maybe more but you'll be waiting a while for that buyer to come round my mates trying to sell his vs 5speed atm at $3000 still 3 months later no one looking to buy but I wouldn't be trying to get my money back when selling it. With everything easy to buy hard to sell !
Mods dont usually mean it will increase the worth of a vehicle. You have to accept that it is a 15+ year old vehicle with a fair amount of kms on it. Personally if I spent that much on a vehicle I would be keeping it. Otherwise you are just going to have to accept you are going to lose quite a bit of money. Probably not the best time to be selling anyway. No one seems to be really buying cars, especially 8 cyl cars that cost a small fortune to run.
Fair enough, I didn't do the mods myself...a fella owed me money at the time and gave me his vs....I know i'll make money on it all the same, just wanted a rough estimate on it. guess its still P plate friendly and i'm hoping i find a P plater that wants a legal car with a nice punch. Cheers Jake.
High-powered (performance) vehicle restriction (Department of Transport and Main Roads) Going stroker changes a whole range of things. One of them being emissions and obviously capacity. More then likely pushes it over the kw per tonne limit to. Also P platers can get exemptions to drive an L67 if they so wish.
But they don't require Mod plates....the only way you'd be able to prove its over a certain Kw is a dyno and i hope department transport of transport don't carry a dyno around with them lol. How do p platers get away with a l67?... they arn't over 200kw but yes or course they are supercharged.
Rules have changed. Also you would have to be a moron to spend that much money stroking a car to then strangle it with a stock exhaust.
yeah its got 2.5inch straight through... i'm switching back to a 2.5inch with a muffler when i sell it
No doubt about it - rare as. Doesn't make it worth any more money though. Options are: 1/ Buy a highly modded V6 2/ Buy a stock (or maybe mild bolt on) 5 Litre that puts out similar/more power I'd start looking at what 5 litre VR/S'ssuussuss are worth with bodies in similar condition to yours as a starting point. Orly??? Just because you shut your eyes doesn't make it night ya know :bang: Reaper
So what your saying is: You know its no good for a Pplater. But your going to sell it to a Pplater. Then when hes all happy about buy ing (shame on him for not doing his research) he gets arse raped by the Police. Car impounded, fined and raped. All so you can make a quick dollar? Shame on you..
