How much oil does a VF V8 need?

Having bought a demo VF Calais V V8 with 5k, I wanted a new filter and oil change just to satisfy my OCD. They said it took over 8 litres with a new filter yet the book says approximately 7.6 litres. While the dip stick is hard to read with fresh oil it looks over to me after a 1 hour cool down so I will check dead cold. I called the dealer and was told sometimes these new engines take more oil. What kind of BS is that? Anyhow, love the car, love the way it runs my iphone 5S perfectly once I sorted it. But the oil stuff is weird. Any comments?

Be guided by what is contained in the Owners Handbook. I have always used such information and NEVER found it to be wrong. Good luck.

As the book says, "approx" 7.6, that could be 8. Depends on filter size used as well, bigger filter will hold more oil.
I wouldnt stress about it.
