    Hey guys

I know this has probs been covered a few times, an i dont want people saying "why dont you just buy a v8" i like my ute an im not looking at selling it but will want a v8 once im on my black's, but roughly how much would it cost to convert my 6 to a 8?

    Cheers

There is a reason people will tell you to just buy a car with a v8 in it already......Its not like back in the day with older engines where swapping to a different motor was straight forward. Not sure on the price to actually do it but it would be much, much cheaper to sell your car and by a V8. Sorry.

Save your money for the next two years then trade your v6 in for a shiny new SS ute :)

That pretty much sums it up. To do that conversion on a VY I doubt you would have much change from $10k + labour. Then you will also have the extra resale hit because your car started out life as a 6 cyl.

Not sure on costs, but just a list of what I think you have to change:

    • Engine
    • Wiring Harness
    • Engine mount / Subframe?
    • Struts + Springs
    • Brakes
    • Labour
    • Computers

Like Torona355 said, It's not as easy as it used to be..
My HZ V8 has 6 wires going into the engine.
Oil Temp, Temp, Starter, Main power, Ignition coil, Alternator..

6 wires on my commodore would power maybe the Injectors..

So would i lol. Ive been off my P's for over 10 years and im stuck in an SV6 right now. That said you can make a v6 a bit more fun with some diff gears and a tune.
