I wonder how much they will sell it for and how will this sale impact parts and warranty over the long term.
some places might end up not having a local holden dealer if inchcape closes the current holden dealers.

interesting times ahead :D

regardless of who is presenting it if inchcape is looking through holdens "books" then gm is entertaining the idea of selling the holden brand.
gm already sold opel to psa, selling holden is probably just the the next step in the big gm plan.

Not a big shock. Holden died when the plant closed down.

This. It seems GM aren't really interested in markets outside the US, probably because the cars they seem to make the biggest profits out of are heavy light-commercial trucks & luxury cars where the luxuriousness comes from size & equipment rather than quality … and they can't sell much of that stuff outside the US.

What about China? That is their biggest market.

Yeah, fair call. They may even think that by dropping all other markets they can put their resources into focusing on China?

Buick is huge in China otherwise they seem happy with north/ south America. Companies that want to expand need to be thinking India now.

The big bit that I don't get is that Opel/PSA actually build cars in their backyard. Holden doesn't.
It is virtually a 'shell' company with an emblem. And their design/engineering expertise will diminish quickly when it not under the GM umbrella.
How can a car brand sell stuff under their logo when it not their own product. Consumers are not that stupid.
( I wonder if a Kia Stinger will fit over a V8 supercar chassis ?)

GM would have got more for it selling it as a on going entity with manufacturing operations, Zeta IP etc rather than just a 'name'.

how much have GM spent closing up Elizabeth?
