how old were you when you had kids? or when do you plan to?

I just turned 21, when i had my son. Now im almost 30

just bought my first home at 21, probably plan to have a kid around 25 or so. Definately for abortion so if my girlfriend got pregnant in the next couple of years that's what would happen.

i'm 30 next year and plan to have kids before I'm 35.

I marry my fiance in November and we've just bought a house. Call me a traditionalist but that's the way I think it should be done. Kids need to be brought up in a stable environment, By the time we have kids we'll have had a few years of being married on our own and hopefully the house will be renovated - that's the plan anyway!

 

mate of mine is 24 and his partner is 25...just got informed today that they are having a kid..and roughly 5 weeks in..was stoked to hear the news i could imagine when its my time to be telling ppl haha!!..i plan about 25ish aswell

 

I was 27 and my wife was 21 when we had our first ( i couldn't think of anything else to give her for her 21st ) , a girl and my son was born 4 years later . They are now 24 and 20 .

Kids are great,but i couldnt eat a whole one!.Nah seriously ive been around a few years,but why have a kid when you are a kid.

 

I was 29 so just made it before i hit 30. Its awesome to come home from work and your little baby gives you a big smile and says ee ee ee.
I figure if you die choosing not to have kids your life was essentially a waste.

Regret and Envy are two totally different things. You can envy something without regretting the road you have taken.

 

So so true!!! When I was going through high school (finished in 2003) there was about 5 girls I knew which where pregnant/ had kids by the time I finished, not quite from Frankston (Mornington) but close enough.

 

I would never plan on having kids. I think this would be a big change in your life. So if and when it happens just make sure your around.

 

I was 26 when my son was born,then 2 years later had a daughter.Before 30 is great way to go for me ,I figure by the time Iam 40 they wull both be in high school

 

I had a girl at 26 and a boy at 27, I wouldn't change it for all the V8 Commodores in the world. Now they are 2 and 3 and they already love helping out with the car stuff. A lot of people wait until they have the money to have kids or buy houses, my old man told me once that there is always gonna be a bill to pay, he was right too, if I waited till I had the money for kids, I'd still be waiting. There are good 18 yo parents and there are crap and abusive 40yo parents, everyone different and having kid matures you a lot more than anything I can think of. I think its worse to have kids at 40-50 IMO, but in saying that, even that isnt always right.

Planning them in a few years. Gotta get properties sorted first... Looking forward to it though (never used to like kids, despite working with them).

I'll second whoever explained the lack of connection between regret and envy - though if you want to belittle someone with different views to you then you might create a connection.

I envy people with kids, but i don't regret that i don't have any yet.

 

yeah i dont plan on having kids any time soon, but i dont want to be one of those old parents whose 60 when your kid is 20..
so prob mid to late 20's if i can sort my suff out..
funny story tho my old mate who turned into a complete fking toolbag C**T, stabbed me in the back(not literally lol), talking **** about me to other ppl, always hell seedy n secretive dodgy C**T..:bang:

my aunty was 42 went she had her girl then 45 for a boy, he has a genetic condition of extra bone growths because she and her partner where old (imo). her partner had two kids in there mid teens and didnt want anymore, but......

 

Just found out my misses is preg today. I'm 26 and am happy to be having a child at this time in my life

 

congratulations there, welcome to parenthood.... one of the most stressful but heart warming this you can do...enjoy.
