Ordered the Autel MaxiScan MS300 from amazon. Was so looking forward for it to arrive but when it did...it turned out not to work on V6 commodores (at least ectotec 3.8s). So disappointing!

Anyway, i hear its possible to check the fault codes by bridging pins or something like that. Manual says "connect terminal 5 and 6 blah blah blah" I have no idea which one is terminal 5 and 6 and how to connect them. Soooooo.....

1. Is it possible to check CEL codes without a code scanner?
2. If yes...is it possible to check old codes (saved codes...check engine light not on now)?
3. What is the exact procedure?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Wow, you really know how to start a lot of threads, spose there's a lot to learn though.

I searched this:
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vy-holden-commodore-2002-2004/28500-vy-engine-error-codes.html
(No you can't bridge pins on VY only VX, need a scan tool on VY)

And this:
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vy-holden-commodore-2002-2004/146897-obd-ii-mode-2003-vy-comodore-calais.html
VY V6 is not OBD2, it is OBD2 plug with ALDL (OBD1) comms.
