hi guys.. here is the easiest way to connect your existing steering wheel controls.for VTVX with existing controls.. to your after market stereo..all you have to do is locate 2 wires on your factory radio plug. the 2 wires you need are (brown with white dots) witch is your signal wire.and the other is (black with a white stripe) whitch is your ground wire.. all you have to do is connect your (key1) wire from your new srereo to the brown wire and connect your radio black ground wire from your new stereo to the black wire with whith white stripe.. i have some pics here for you with all connections .. i hope it helps

What about the higher end models like the Calais and statesmans? In certain they use the Bcm to transfer voltage signals around but something like this wouldn't work would it ?

I tried this and it didn't work. My wires at the stereo plug come from the BCM.

The method I used is:

There is a plug under the steering wheel shroud that connects the clock-wire (horn and stereo controls). I spliced my stereo control wires to these. Not sure exactly of the colours. Got them from a guide on thsi forum (but have forgotten them now).

Cheers,

JG

the signal from the steering wheel controls go to the bcm thus transfering to the radio thats why the set up is in the unit you set all the controls through the unit . once the right connections are done .i know the connections behind the clock spring thats why u dont have to go that far the same coulor wires coming from the clock spring connector go to the stereo plug. brown and black white ..
