Hi guys,

Am looking at cutting some rust out of the boot of a VL Commodore. First thoughts were to angle grind the affected metal, treat and paint.

Was wondering what the best method is to cut rust from the boot section that sits about a cm above the fuel tank. I am not too keen on using the angle grinder for obvious reasons.

I was thinking of using steel wire on a drill or going to town with sandpaper but am hoping an easier option exists!

Any info much appreciated,

Cheers guys

Depends on how bad it is, scrape with wire brush by hand & paint with killrust or the drill method.

Cheers for the info guys,

The rust at it's worst is 6mm x 3mm and is in about three spots above the fuel tank.

Probably not worth removing the entire tank but i will if i have to.
