A simple led conversion shouldn't have effected the fan speed controls.

When the control assembly was taken out, may be the plug wasn't put back in properly, or there is a wire loose some where.
Did you do the conversion yourself, or did someone else do it?
May be the control assembly was dropped or damaged during the conversion.

As you may have read in my first post, speeds 1,2 and 3 run through the resister and the 4th speed by passes them and runs directly through the blower relay.
In my opinion, it's very likely the control panel is faulty or a plug isn't in properly.

Hey been thread digging, the problem im having is 1,2,3 work fine all day everyday, the number 4 setting will work for a short while the time i works varys but it cuts out and i have to switch it all the way off and on again to number 3 and all is fine but number 4 will cut out and shut the aircon off no air will blow.
Has been like this since i got the car about a year ago and just had a new aircon compressor installed thought that may have fixed it but still shuts sown on 4th setting.
Would it be a fuse under the dash or something more sinister?

As Tas said. The blower may be over loading on full speed.

The blower relay, which is only activated on the 4th speed setting may be faulty also.
Turning the fan off, hence the relay as well, may reset the relay, for a while at least.
Doing this may also reset the thermals inside the fan motor.
Try the relay first. That's the easiest and cheapest.
Then, if that doesn't work, test the fan by removing it (not hard), disconnecting it from the car's electrics and
wire it directly to the battery. See if it cuts out.

VZ R8
Hi Guys,
I have a VZ R8 and climate air playing up.
At first it was on windscreen on cold with ac on and heard some clicking in behind dash, and then the airconditioning side of things stopped. The fan works fine on both cold or hot on all speeds but the a/c side of things is not.
Have checked relays and fuses and all seem ok. I have also replaced the climate air screen thing in dash but no change, I press the ac button and don't get a click or anything from the ac compressor like I have heard on other cars..

Any one have any ideas?

Cheers

How effective was the A/C before it stopped working, was it cold?
The reason for that question is, maybe the A/C is low on gas.
If it is, the A/C compressor will not operate.
Also check that there are no leaks in the A/C pipes, that will allow the gas to escape.

Re check all your fuses again with a multimeter, as they can seem ok visually.

Not knowing a real lot about Climate Control systems, but that clicking you heard behind the dash could be relay/s
disconnecting the A/C system because of the low gas pressure.

Have the system checked by a qualified A/C technician, especially for any gas leaks.

Hi mate.
Problem:- fan not working on any speed
Blower relay clicks on hi only
Changed both relays- blower & inhibitor- no difference
Engine fans still work & compressor engages when I turn fan to 1,so am guessing switch is ok (& relay click on hi)
Maybe the fan itself ?

Sounds like the fan has either s### its self or is blocked.
The blower relay will only activate on the the high setting.
The other settings run through the fan speed resistors.

I've posted instructions (below) on how to remove the blower fan.
It's not hard.

Take it out and have a look at it.
It may only require a clean out.
You could try powering it up directly to the battery, just to eliminate any wiring fault/s in the car's electrics.
