Without going into every last fitting detail is there a quick method of replacing the electric window control panel in a VX.
After my last service the drivers electric window control was broken but of course they never did it and its now completly stuff and luckily stopped working in the closed position.
I've just purchased a brand new unit for $30.00 of evilbay and would love to fit it before traveling 580 klms this weekend to attend a 10klm fun run.
Not bad for an exfatty who's lost 50kgs with the help of a Lap-Band and best of all is my type 2 diabetes has been reversed.

I use a smallish flat bladed screwdriver with the blade covered in cotton material to prise out the switch block. The material is to avoid scratching anything.

Easiest and safest way without scratching is to remove the whole gear selector surround. Sounds hard but piss easy.

    1. Underneath the radio/compartment, remove any rubber trays and remove the two screws holding in the gear slector surround.

    2. Then place fingers in the small gap between black gear selector cover plate and gear surround and lift up gently but firmly. Do so until its all removed and using your fingers, reach under and unclip the loom from the window switch (like a lil plastic spring thing in the middle of the plug, push in and wiggle it free)

    3. Whole thing should be out, You can see where the window switch clips into the surround, so pry it off and push it through the top.

    4. Remove/replace and do in reverse the above process.

My console cover won't lift up at the rear completely without the window switch removed first, the rear bottom part of the switch hits the console. This could be because the wood grain covers are slightly different. But still, the switch can be levered out with care and no damage.

Mine does that too, i lift it up about an inch and have to push the actual bottom of the switch forward and jiggle it up at the same time and eventually she pops out. Needs alot of jiggling

I have a VX SS goldish silver surround, so i wouldnt dare using the screwdriver/rag method. One small imperfection shows up alot. Any scratches, dents etc.
