How to make your exhaust echo at idle? Mostly for V8's, but other engines too.

G'day all,

I've been trying to figure out the reason behind the beautiful, echoey, metallic tone that some V8's have on idle. Even some cammed V6's have this attractive tone.
Some examples:

https://youtu.be/0khk2hkQw2Y?t=54 - Cammed V6 Mustang w/Longtubes
Couldn't find a better example just now, but note the echo in comparison to this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTjdJiT3tho - Cammed V6 Firebird with true duals.

More echo:
https://youtu.be/tf9H-BeGnLs - Cammed Ford Explorer 4.0L - Idle and Light Acceleration
https://youtu.be/2wsDRVY1bNI - 69 Camaro SS 396 Big Block Lunati Cam idle (Yes! This is some good echo.)
https://youtu.be/HzKeCjfK-qQ - 1983 Chevy Camaro cammed 350 idle (Extreme echo at 0:10 mark.)

I hope it's clear what I am talking about here.
Any fellas with exhausts like this on the forums care to share what the exact setup is?

Or does anyone straight up know how to achieve this sound? I can't find much on the internet apart from 'Exhaust for Toyota Echo' results.

The nice V8 burble sound for the LS (and a lot of other V8’s) comes from them having a cross plane crankshaft. The cross plane crank make for an uneven firing order that makes the burble sound. Flat plane crank V8s don’t sound as nice IMO.

An example of the difference between the sound of cross plane and non cross plane in 4 cylinder motorbike engines.

Hmm yes.

The second motorbike (Yamaha R1?) has a big open slant cut tip. The first one has what I assume to be a baffled/resonated tip.
I wonder what the Kawasaki would sound like with the Yamaha's exhaust. I want to eliminate this variable.

The 4.0L OHV 'Cologne' V6 used in the 1996 Ford Explorer (linked in first post) is a 60° V6 which is even-firing. Despite this, it has an echoey idle.

You heard the difference between the 3.8 'Essex' V6 in the Mustang and the 3.8 Buick V6 in the Firebird, both of them are 90° odd-fire V6's; one echoes and one doesn't.
Not to mention the dozens of videos I sifted through of other crossplane V8's with no echo before I found the two that I linked.

In light of this, I don't think odd or even firing has any influence on the echo of the exhaust.
