[General] How To Paint your Engine Cover

thanks for the write up as about to put a ecotec in a vk and was wondering how to neaten them up.

I painted my cover with acrylic while I was touching up the front spoiler. Simply rubbed back, undercoat, rubbed back then acrylic colour and clear. No probs with paint peeling -v the plastic cover doesn't get hot enough. Details were just hand painted.

It would look a lot better if the rocker covers matched but I don't have a spare pair laying around.

First time I've seen under your bonnet mate, very tasteful and tidy.

Need to fix up the air intake pipe. I tried chrome paint on it ages ago and it just flaked off within 2 days.

These are a few photos of mine, haven't finished what I planned to do.

looks nice caprilicious. love how it has just that small accent that makes it stand out.

oh and i have an update for you guys.
no i havent clear coated the cover yet however
bought a pair of rocker covers and am going to do them black with the chrome stripes in the indented areas.
hope to have them done in about 3-4 weeks.
then ill clearcoat all 3 covers together and fit in 1 hit.

once all done ill get some pictures up. (so whole engine bay will look black and whole car "should" match)
