As the topic says, how do you remove the auto gear knob.
I need to get the whole center console out, (the bit around the hand brake/power window buttons) Its all unclipped and unscrewed but the gear knob is making it get stuck.
I need to get under the center glove box to drill some hole for some switches.

its a little tricky, but easy enough...what you need to do it lift the grip part from the back where there's that little bit that runs down the shaft. lift from there and the knob should tilt forwards off the shaft and come off - dont try lifting it straight up as there are little spikes that hang onto it and will dig in even more if you pull directly up.
it'll probably be a bit hard going to start with, but once loosened up it comes off easy as.

dude, its not neccesary to remove the automatic gear knob.

ive never heard anybody take off the gear knob just to remove the centre console.

you only needa take it out if your making a manual conversion or replacing it

you might need to turn the plastic propotion that surrounds the selector90 degrees so it site sideways and lift 1 side over the knob.

yes it will be tight but thats how its done. lot of hassle saved.

frustrating taking out and putting backl in the auto gear knob
