Hey,
Just being doing the last minute things for a roadworthy check,
and I have a spare bonnet cable that I am going to use as a replacement. When I took the old cable out yesterday I found it
extremely hard to pull it through the drivers side firewall. I ended stopping because I thought if it is this hard to get out I thought
my chances of getting a new one back through are slim. I have looked through lots of threads but nobody seems to have commented on this.
Has anyone encountered this problem and/or found a solution?
Thanks

cant remember ever doing one but id say youll wanna attach a line or string to the latch end of the cable, tape it all up to the pull line, then string it through and do the same thing to the end of the new one. pull it through in reverse order and presto you in business..

this is just off the top of my head spit ballin here....

ok loosen the fuse panel...
pull the hood relese lever forward (the whole assembly not just the lever)...
remove the 8ml bolt holding the cable to the radiator suport..
remove the washer bottle and rad overflow bottle... 2 phillips head screws
spray some WD40 onto the rubber grommet where it pass's through the fire wall...
give it a pull from inside the car... should come straight out

and putting it back is the same in reverse

but i think he already knew all that and was having trouble pulling the cable through??
hence why i said WD40 and its piss easy !!

I tried the WD40 method on this one. Didn't work no matter how hard I tried as the rubber grommet was too old and hard. In the end I grabbed a circular file and rammed it into it till it popped out. No problems threading the cable then!

As he said just take the windscreen fluid reservoir out and just grab that grommet out and it'll be free as a bird

Another tip is don't try to push the grommet out from inside the cabin into the engine bay, instead push it back through the engine bay into the cabin - it'll come out easier
