Like many people, I have seen the Plasti Dip Youtube clips - and when a local shop had it on special, I decided to give it a go.
I had an SS Inductions Cold Air Intake to put on my VS V8 Commodore, it is the CAI was for a V6, but I had recently installed thermo fans which meant I could make the larger V6 CAI fit.
My components - after a quick wash

The Plastic Dip products - Black, Gunmetal Grey, Metalizer and Glossifier.

I also got some anti-slap mat backing from Clark Rubber - for the Carbon Fibre effect.

Two coats of the black, allowing about 15-30mins between coats to flash off.

The hardest bit is wrapping the mesh around the components and getting a tight fit. Beware using any tape to hold the mesh down at this point because it will lift the base cost straight off when you go to remove it. I sprayed the gunmetal grey over the mesh, then the metalizer.

Let it dry and remove the mesh.

Add 2 coats of the Glossifier.

Before and after shots. I had to also remove the front engine cover and cut away part of the throttle cable mount to make enough room for the V6 CAI.

I know it's not perfect, or to everyone's taste. But I just enjoyed having a bit of a play around with the Plasti Dip.
A few words of caution:
- I went too hard with the gunmetal grey and metalizer - If I did it again I would definitely use a lighter touch.
- When you screw into Plasti Dip coated items, the coating will grab and twist around the screw, pulling it off - always use a washer. (This is evident in one of my pics on the install.)

I am now thinking what else to Plasti Dip, maybe interior bits next time. Good Luck - Scrubmonk

That actually looks pretty good, well done man :)

Are you going to do any other bits the same way?

I got mine from Autobarn, $29.99 a can. Still thinking what else I might plastidip. The beauty of plastidip over normal spray paint is that you can just peel it off if you stuff it up, and it covers up a lot of imperfections so the prep time is just a good wipe down - no primer needed.
