pretty sure this has been covered in the VT section.

change one lead at a time and you cant go wrong unless you know the firing order

pretty streight forward really. pull one off at a time and replace it exactly the same way.

the part where you have to slide the lead under the alternator can be tricky but its been done.

Its like plugging in an extension cord, its piss easy dude. Just do one at a time.
The old ones can be tight to get off, use multi-grips or pliers if you have to. Make sure the new ones go on firmly and your set.
Also you will have to remove the turtle cover, 4X13mm? bolts.

Cammed mafless VS Calais 5-speed.
It's a lot easier to take them all off at once so you can slide all three behind the alternator at once. Just draw up a diagram of the connections before you start.

It's much easier if you take the alternator off first, **** feeding all those plugs around it, drove me nuts :bang:

When you're pulling leads off, make sure you grip from the rubber head, not the lead itself, because they tend to snap off pretty easily.

Either do them one by one like others said, or write down the firing order of the cylinders so you know where to connect the new ones up.
From memory the order is:
6-5
4-3
2-1
(front)

If you do want to get the alternator off:
1) Disconnect negative battery lead
2) Remove the engine cover (sounds like you have already)
3) Remove the accessory belt (draw a diagram, or take a photo so you know how it has to go back on, to remove you just put a spanner on the tensioner pulley and turn it to give the belt some slack)
4) Undo the mounting bolts and brace (2 from memory, including the brace)

Pretty straightforward, personally I think it saves time.
