I was recently told that the VZ HSV LS2 runs bigger front and rear yokes and doughnuts, is this right?
I knew the HSV Z ran a bigger tail shaft.
How this came about was a friend of a friend just recently put a 2nd hand 3.73 (replacing 3.07) LSdiff in his 05VZ SS.
I said I wouldn't mind doing the same but he said that he from what he had heard, that I would need to replace the yoke on any diff from VT2-VZ Holden V8 & SCV6 and HSV VT2-VY2 with 250-285 engines to an LS 2 one as it is bigger.

VZ SV8 6spd 6.0 430rwhp
Later built manual VZ SS already had 3.73 ratio, mines an 05 and had 3.73 from factory.

Thanks but I want to know if the Z LS2 does indeed run a bigger yoke and doughnut than fitted to all other VT2-Vz V8's and Macca 779 on SC forum has confirmed that it does.
btw the LS2 runs a different 6 spd box to the normal VZ LS1 or L76 and only runs 3.46 ratios same as auto LS2.

I recently fitted a low k VY Maloo 3.73 to my senator but before I could fit it I had to change over the Pinion yokes as the LS2 and series 2 VZ 6.0L does in fact run a much larger doughnut and pinion flange/yoke.
Distance between bolt holes on the VT2-VZ1 V6 & V8 is about 82-83mm where as the LS2/VZ6.0L yoke is 95mm between bolt holes.
see difference in pic below the one on top is the earlier yoke and the one on the bottom the laster revised bigger version.
