    Hi

I just checked underneath my 2014 MY15 SV6 ute and it has the small space saver spare wheel. I was under the impression that all MY15's were going to be supplied with a genuine full size alloy spare wheel? Can anyone please confirm this?

On another note I had a flat battery today and had to call out Holden Roadside Assistance who jump started my car, I only picked it up 3 days ago and hope it isn't the sign of a bigger electrical issue.

    Regards,

I believe an alloy spare is now standard in SSV, Redline and Calais V. However still an option on the lower models. I enquired about this when i bought my SS Storm ute last year. I think its around a $380 option or so. Your better off getting one from ebay or buy one from a wheel/tyre place that has traded in a set.

As for the battery did you leave any on charge etc?

My old man was told by holden when he bought his VY that they don't supply full size alloys to a ute as a spare,
as they are too easy to take. rip off 4 utes and you have a set of wheels!
also not many people would notice if their ute spare was missing!
but I do think they should have a full size steelie as I don't believe in space savers.

    Hi

After I received a jump start from Holden Roadside Assistance I took the car for a 45 minute drive and have then left it to charge with a CTEK battery charger overnight as was recommended by the mechanic.

My SV6 MY15 sedan has an alloy spare. As Noeleter said above. Sales guy said the same. One other thing is all the MY14 sedans I looked at had the rear bumper plastic, where the number plate attaches, just plain plastic. The MY15 has gloss black. Was this a change for the MY15?

Gloss black rear valence on sports models for MY15 instead of Matt black.

    Hi

Ok I let my car sit for 48 hours to replicate the conditions of when the battery went flat. My car started perfectly, it seems I must have left the headlights on the previous occasion and this made the battery go flat?

On another note does anyone know if a genuine SV6 alloy wheel and tyre will fit in the spare wheel holder of my ute?

    Regards,

Hope so else if you get a flat, what are you sposed to do? Leave the wheel on side of the road.

This was gets me with these space savers, if you need it, it's quite possible you've got no where for the now flat to go.

My 2008 SV6 Ute came with a full size Alloy and was standard equip. on the MY08/09.......the reason why they get stone chipped etc. the outside of the alloy is attached face down to the road because they have a safety clip to stop them falling off....and you cannot reverse them the other way round.....face up because of the locking mechanism......previous model utes had the face of the alloy facing up under the tray....but no safety clip....:hmmm:

SS Ute has 2 different width tyres front and rear....hence the space saver and or the steel wheel/inflator can.........:idea3:

    Hi

It seems that my electrical/battery issue isn't fixed. I went to start the car again today and got nothing.
I called up my local Holden dealer and told them it has an issue and can't be started, they told me to bring it in!
I told them to organise a tilt tray, pick it up and give me my money back. My car was picked up about 2 hours ago and is getting checked out now.
To break down within 1 business day of ownership and a 2nd time within 7 days of ownership is ridiculous.
I have owned over 10 Holden's/HSV's, with this been my 4th of 5th new one and this is my first lemon.
    Not happy.

    Regards,

... compressor+goo on all HSVs (with an alloy spare as an extra cost (expensive ) option)

and talking about goo, I am having a serious chat with Holden about how a can of goo/compressor kit
with an expiry date of JULY 2014 got put in a HSV Tourer with a build date of ... September 2014!

I just happened to see this when re-locating my jumper leads in the wheel well last weekend -

If you have a compressor/goo kit go check the expiry date....

oh.. and I have picked up a proper HSV spare wheel (as goo really is NOT an alternative when you are half way to Adelaide)
    I much prefer this -

    Hi

Ok I got my car back this morning. I was advised that my car started when they took delivery of it BUT they tell me that my battery was dropping to 7 volts when trying to start the engine so they tell me it seems it may have had a faulty battery and have replaced it. My CTEK charger did not indicate this and Holden Roadside Assistance informed me the battery was flat and not faulty.

I suppose time will tell and if it starts ok every time for my for the next 2 weeks it would seem that this issue is resolved.

    Regards,

    Hi all.
Has anyone investigated fitting the Maloo Wheel Carrier for their SSV Redline Ute to house the 8.5" spare? If so what did you pay for the set up?
I'm not keen on this compressor one bit.

Not sure if a full alloy will fit under your ute but if you are in Melbourne you can pick a brand new (pull off new vehicle without tyre) for $125!

I put one in our my15 sv6 sedan (second hand) as it only had a steel wheel and one of the wheels had slight damage, so that is now the spare....

For those with space saver spares, Suttons Spares on Ebay are selling SS/SV6 wheels with OEM tyres for $275. They are advertised as used, but have been taken off new cars before delivery.
