Hi, just wondering what the differences mite be if any, in the photos below. Like the reach, the steps ect. Do all iac valve have 255 steps, or some have 150 steps? Looks like one has a open spring look, the other a covered in look to it. Before choosing one online to purchase.

Cheers

Hi Lex, I'm looking at one for the Buick 3.8. I got one for the ecotec NA the other week, it's got the open looking spring one in it.

With a Google search I've found the VR V6 and VS V6 iac valves are the same pointy pintle tip end. Even if you can see the spring or a enclosed look to it, like a piece of tube over the shaft, as post #1 has photos of.
I wonder If all the steps are the same length, between the one suitable for VR through to VT.

The one I recently got from Amazon, that is working in my VS V6 looked the same as this photo below. And was in this box below. Etched into the valve was: assembled in Mexico.
I did order 2 from Amazon, I was returning 1 that didn't work properly, as in it didn't extend to control the idle air. It would rev continuously at 2000rpms.

Take out of vs test in the vr. If works, you 're good to go. If not, try one of the other iac?

The one that didn't work (the one you sent back, didn't work). Did you try with both motors?

Pete a SH one will be as good or better than what you can buy new. Brand new sensors on the old VR's are no longer much good, unless you buy from the stealer. Delphi went broke a few years ago. Now that the OEM NOS has run out the new parts are just junk unless you buy them from Holden.

That's true, I haven't swap the VS one to the VR yet. But a good test idea.

Second hand. Too many fakes on Amazon.
