Calais trims will come up good. Door trims are pretty straight forward, just remember the screws in the hand grips & aircon vents and you'll be fine.
Would you beleive i once picked up an entire Calais interior (trims, leather/suede seats, centre console, dash fascia, courtesy lights etc... for $150 with a set of chrome exterior moulds. Then i was a d*ckhead and gave it to a chick i was seeing at the time. Kick myself everytime i think about it :(

well I've started the job now, got the door trim off no problems but I'm having trouble getting the lugs to line up. when I took the old trims off, the white plastic lugs just stayed in the door, and the trim just came away without any lugs in it. am I then supposed to pull the lugs out, put them in the new trim and just simply line it back up and push them in until it clicks in place?

Carefully pull the lugs out of the door (they're ribbed, insert pun here) and they twist into the circular mounts on the trim starting at the slit. Correct, once back in the trim just line up and push. They have a bit of play, the screws get things tight. You can lose a couple but if you've lost a lot, araldite or quick-grip the mounts back on to the trim.

yeah the lugs are in the door pretty tight. what's the best way to get them out without snapping the tops off?

I've always used needle-nosed pliers/vice grips. Just make sure you grab the shaft and don't put pressure on the hat. Wiggling side to side slowly and patiently should yield acceptable results.

sweet, I'll give that a go tomorrow. I got too fed up trying today and got hot and bothered in the process because it's like 500 degrees over here right now.

There is a lug removal tool you can buy fairly cheap. no damage to the lug or trim. had one when i was always working on my old calais until some pri*k stole it

well I mastered the lugs today and got all the trims on this morning and it was fairly straight forward after I worked the lugs out. thanks for all the tips guys!

gave the doors another once over with some leather cleaner and the shamwow after I put them on (my hands got dusty) and I must say, they do bring a touch of class to the luxobarge. the grab handles are a lighter shade of grey than the leather, but I don't mind and they still do match the two-tone grey dash so they don't look out of place. I was going to swap the speaker pods but I prefer the material on the leather cards so I didn't bother. some of the material has lifted a little so I'll need to glue that back down.

Custom plates look real nice with that light, seems brighter than mine are yours on the sides pointing inward?
How did it go anyway, no fault codes?
Need some pics together on the JC cruise

yeah they are nice and bright. the ones I put in had 20 LED's on each globe, so a total of 40 leds lighting up that garnish lol. the lights are in the numberplate garnish pointing down towards the ground. I didn't get any blown lamp warnings when I was driving before so all is well. I'll also need to get some new screws, the ones on there now are rusty and look out of place now that it's so white when lit up.

yeah we'll get some photos, I'm just worried that I'll be expected to work this sunday (this week starting is my first week back from holidays) so I might not be able to meet till the later half of the cruise. I only work 5 hours on sundays and it's every 4th one, but I might be able to swap with someone. but it's a weird shift, starting 10 but I sometimes decide to start early and leave earlier.

Thanks. Not much has changed over the past few months though.

Planning on doing a boot install for the subs and getting some leather seats if I can come across them or re trimming the ones I have.

haha the car as it is now only has 160,000 on the odometer so for now I think I'll just enjoy it for what it is, and probably drop in a 5l when the 3800 starts to get a little tired. but it's still got heaps of life left in it.
