I want to repaint my Landcruiser Trayback in a white respray over the white 2K.
Can anyone please recommend any of the cheaper paints to use. I have ben told not to use Chinese paint but this bloke only used PPG which I find hard to justify the cost on this vehicle.
Thanks for any advice, much appreciated. cheers

You could use industrial enamel and add some hardener.

There are a number of locally made paints that are relatively cheap. Especially white, white is the cheapest base you can get. Just go to a proper auto paint supplier.

I was looking on Ebay etc and the paints on there are way cheaper than local suppliers as you say but I have not used them that is why I am asking.
Biggest reason here Quote' " Freight is very expensive to get things up here so we can't match southern prices."
Think that is why we pay double at least, sad old story.

I could get 4L of Aust made industrial enamel here in Launceston for $70. Nearly everything in Tas is 20% -30% due to the 300km water highway we have to pay for compared to Melb prices. Have you tried a paint supplies in Townsville? I would never buy paint off eBay. SCA sell white acrylic for like $60 for 4L and AFAIK it's made in Sydney.

Get the same story over here for certain items.

I expect @losh1971 gets the same down where he is.

Unless you live in the centre of the universe.....Sydney / Melbourne / and maybe some extend parts of the eastern seaboard....one will get stung with this.

The above I put Townsville as my local store. Just as an example less than 100 bucks get 4L of white enamel or acrylic. Not sure what you call expensive??? Might pay to have a proper look at the stores that sell auto paints before saying you need to buy paint off eBay to get it at a decent price. ;);)

I just used Hichem on my ute. It's cheap and very decent.

It's not so much the paint that's the issue, it's the technique.

Not sure how the whirlpool link has anything to do with the Septone white acrylic at SCA for 20 bucks a litre???? i have used septone red on my bike and i painted it over 10 years ago and it has been brill. My link was more if an example to suggest you look around. Because for 100 -120 bucks you should be able to get 4L of tinted white in the colour you need. If I can get 4L of white for 100 bucks in Tas i can not see how Townsville would be any dearer considering our freight is some of the highest in the country.

Just as an example to take a 6×4 trailer across Bass straight it will cost you close to $350 one way that is the price of trailer only. Sure you are almost as far as Cairns but even as far north as you are, if someone is telling you it costs 80 bucks to freight 4L of paint to Townsville they are having you on.... just saying. Basically if someone is telling you the price of freight means the price of a tin of paint doubles, then that works out to $4000 a pallet for freight alone. You do the math. Try somewhere else because he is having a lend of you.
