Did you ring around for some more quotes to compare?

these prices **** me to tears, it's why I do everything I can myself.
Surly it's no more than dropping the pan on a hoist, filter, pan back on and fill road test???

about $150??? filter/oil/gasket and about 1hrs labour?

Is the mechanic a member of any organisation or association?
You could try calling them.

Wouldnt call it $150. Considering the genuine filter for the 5 speed auto's costs about $150 alone last time i priced it up. Oil is Dex 6 aswell. So not cheap Dex3. Depending if they just drained the pan. Or did they put it on a flush machine and do the whole system?

Pan drop i'd say $250-$300 would be a good price.
If they did a flush then what the OP payed wouldnt be unreasonable.

But at the end of the day. After you've paid is the wrong time to worry about it.

Thanks guys for your replies. It was a spear of the moment thing and did not shop around. My fault I know. I watched them do it all. Drop oil, pan, and filter and just replace filter and bolt up pan and fill up again. I tried to negotiate price but he said the oil was fully synthetic and was very expensive. To make it worse I have to go back today because the breather hose is dragging on the road.

I'm more pissed at myself than the mofo that ripped me. Oh he also said this needs to be done every 20,000km. Pfffttt. Tosser.

If you find someone better next time get them to do a flush.
The VS got done 2 services ago and last service the tranny oil was clean as.
Seemed a bit smoother too.

Wonder if they should standardise the market then. Sh!ts me that the wreckers all got together to charge almost identical prices
