hey

i just picked up a 93 mdl vr sedan, $500. had a manual conversion about a year ago. in allrite nic..

the car will not sit at a constant idle. When i start the car it sits around 1500rpm, if i give it a slight rev it may stick at 2000rmp and slowly make its way back to 1500rpm.

same situation but it might stick at around 1800rpm, then slowly make its way down.

i added a return spring to snap back the throttle and im convinced that the cable is not sticking.

what else could be causing the problem ?

also the engine light on the dash is on. although the car runs beautfully besides the rough idle.

thanks

VR should idle around 700-900rpm.

Some things that it could be:

IAC valve in throttle body stuffed.

tight throttle cable

bad earthing/loom

im sure some other people will have some ideas

If the engine is throwing codes, you should be checking them

ive got a leaky air intake caused from a terrible seal with the air intake piping that causes irregular rpm
