Now I tested my ignition coil and it was out of specs but when I went to buy one from Sprints they said to me it was the wrong type fitted to it...

now the coil on the right was the one fitted and the coil on the left is the one they said is supposed to be fitted.... does it really matter?

also do I have to connect the condenser to the new coil?

they do the same thing the new one is just a smaller more reliable design. my VN V8 had the old type on it but i got the new style one when i stroked the motor and all runs sweet

I just moved from the large traditional design to the smaller newer design.

As said above, more reliable and easier to access etc

I use the smaller design coil as from the factory on my missus VR & my VS.
However to allow more room I have moved them to the Left hand (passenger) side inner guard as it is easier to get to & get my hand down the back of the motor.

You should use the one they recommended, which is the model also recommended by Holden. Why would you use an older model oil-filled coil that was not designed for modern ignition systems? The "condenser" - if that's what it is - is used to suppress radio interference. I've always fitted them, but if you're not interested in the quality of your radio reception then omit it.
