It happens with most cars ive noticed...u turn the key and nothing happens, so u turn it off and try again and no worries it starts and responds

My vs used to do it, i just used to shift the auto gearstick up n back hard no worries and shell start and respond

My vy it happens once a month i dont really care its nothing, but just last couple months its happening a bit too often, turn key and it ghosts, no response, retry key and generally works, last couple weeks 4 or 5 times

Should i be looking at changing the ignition switch part? I dont wanna be stranded somewhere....Not sure what its exactly called again...

No dramas with bcm or opening doors...

Thanks for any help

Perhaps you could try cleaning the contact points on the switch, where the key contacts....Also clean the key metal contact points as well...

Sounds a bit like the inhibitor switch on the transmission, or immobiliser may not be dis-engaging.

May need to replace the ignition switch mechanism,
or the inhibitor switch on the transmission
or the actual Key Head, [if its original Key Head]

Has the car been shunted in the rear ?
if so, Try adjusting the inhibitor switch.
