Yes it is illegal for ALL P-platers who went through the P1 one system. If you got your P's before 1st July 2008 (i.e. Your on green P's now) then it is not illegal.

But I give up on trying to explain to people the consequences of modifying your car on your P's, so if your one of the few who give a ****, search haha.

having those mods is nothing really to worry about unless u get done by a prick of a cop who knows what he is looking for.
its getting a roadworthy for it that will be the problem...

I'm not 100% about mini-spool legallities, but really unless you are using the car to drift, you will just put copious strain on the axels and wheels, you will also see premature tyre wear occuring as the spool forces the tires to spin directly together(effectively only one solid axle), unlike an LSD (limited slip differential) which allows a limited amount of free spin between the two wheels (plenty for normal driving, parking, etc..)

If you're on your "Green" P's then the only other issues will be:

- Engine Capacity/weight

Rule is: no more than 3.5L / Tonne

The V6 VR's engine capacity is not over the 3.5L /per Tonne rule

- Power/weight ratio

Rule is: no more than 125Kw / per Tonne.

i.e. Kerb Mass of a VR = 1.422 Tonnes

Therefore: Limit for VR Commodore = 125 * 1.422 = 177.75 Kw

So unless that car puts out more than 177.75 Kwatts then you're all good for legality.

The mods may effect your insurance though.

However if you're on "red" P's you've got lots more issues.

- pls note: i am NOT a lawyer, I am an Insurance Agent, so if you're deeply concerned, check with Vicroads and/or your local Cops

VSII Exec Wagon V6 Manual
they brought in the new high powered vehicle laws before the red p's
its if you got your licence after 1st july 2007...
then its no turbos, superchargers, 8 or more cylinders and no mods at all that increase engine performance
